Summary: He watches it burn.
A/N: written for dw100 prompt #15 heat/water
He watches it burn.
He's witness to the destruction of a once proud civilization now reduced to ash and rubble.
Dust to dust.
The phrase repeats in his mind as he opens his hand, letting the last few remnants of earth trickle from his fingers.
And still the memories haunt him, the ghosts from his past dance at the edges of his memories.
If only they'd listened, accepted, trusted.
He could have saved them.
Could have saved them all, and maybe, just once, saved a tiny part of himself.
Instead, he stands alone in the rain, and watches it burn.
